The Design Process Explained

An initial consultation is arranged where Debra will take full details of your "Wish List" addressing the existing problems with the garden and discussing elements to be retained or enhanced.

Debra will then carry out a Site Survey where full measurements are taken, any changes in levels noted and a full Site Analysis collated. This includes vistas, location of services, sun sweep, views from the house, prevailing wind direction and any potential frost pockets and soil sample is taken. From this information, an Existing Layout Plan is drawn to scale.

The shape of the site is taken into account together with and the period of the house and any historical elements to be included. From this information, Debra is able to produce a Final Outline Plan drawn to scale.

Once the shape of the final planting beds are known, Debra will prepare a Planting Plan with plants chosen to suit the unique soil type and light conditions in your garden. Each and every aspect of a plant is scrutinized to ensure it has enough interest to be included in the Planting Plan - such factors as winter interest, scent, form or prolific flowering habits. Debra always make a point of personally selecting the plants at the nursery (to avoid any unwanted substitutions) and delivers them to the site, setting them out in position ready for planting.

With regard to construction, Debra can recommend contractors used previously whose work she knows to be of a high standard.
